Why Us?
Oceanic Rangers is an ArmA 3 MILSIM (military simulation) community that portrays the Australian Defence Force (ADF) in cooperative and immersive operations. We emphasize teamwork, realistic tactics, and structured gameplay while maintaining a fun and welcoming atmosphere. Our missions range from infantry combat and vehicle operations to reconnaissance and support roles, with dynamic, custom scenarios.
Our History
The Oceanic Rangers have seen many chapters over the years — from humble beginnings and experimental projects to periods of inactivity and eventual revival. Today, under the leadership of MAJ Bencr, the unit continues to grow with a renewed focus on teamwork, structure, and immersion. Here's a brief overview of our journey:
Origins (Pre-2018)
Originally known as "Epicrun Australia" (EA), the community is believed to have started around 2017 under LTCOL Su (ex-member), though some claim it dates back to 2015. The early days were marked by a small but enthusiastic playerbase, with stories of much larger numbers that remain more legend than fact.
2018–2020
During this period, MAJ Bencr joined EA. The unit briefly merged with Meridian Network to launch the Malden Life Project, which was ultimately canceled in 2019. Following leadership changes, including LTCOL Su’s removal, the group rebranded as Oceanic Rangers. MAJ Douglas became Commanding Officer with CAPT Bencr as Executive Officer. The unit transitioned to a council system after six months, but that structure only lasted three months before activity stopped entirely.
2021–2022
The Rangers reformed again with MAJ Douglas as CO and CAPT Bencr as XO. Despite renewed efforts, leadership shifted back to a council system after six months. Eventually, all command staff stepped down, and the unit entered another dormant phase.
2023–Mid 2024
A period of near-total inactivity followed, with only sporadic operations taking place. Many members moved on to other units or games during this time.
Late 2024–Present
As of May 2024, the Oceanic Rangers have returned to regular weekly operations. With many veteran members rejoining, the unit is rebuilding its foundation with a renewed commitment to structured, immersive milsim gameplay. Leadership is now under MAJ Bencr as CO and CAPT Wolf as XO and CAPT Weezooka as ADJT.
